We’re the small but perfectly formed team that’s working hard to make Safety Central happen.
Our days are spent creating lively learning programmes with our partners, meeting sponsors and supporters, recruiting volunteers, talking to our builders, raising awareness…and pretty much anything else that needs doing to get the show on road!

Our address is: Safety Central, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cliff Lane, Lymm, Warrington, WA13 0TE
Mark Shone, Manager
I’ve been involved in the Safety Central project since 2014 when I helped to produce the original business case. Now we’re built and up and running, my role is to lead our team and ensure we become a centre of excellence in safety and lifeskills education. You’ll also see me managing visits and even doing some hands-on delivery.
Talk to me if you want to know more about Safety Central, our plans for the future and how you can be part of our exciting project.
Hazel Crampton, Development Officer
I’m really proud to be a member of the Safety Central team and to be putting my skills as a youth and community development worker and former Prince’s Trust Team leader to use in new ways. My main role is to work with partners to create learning programmes that really capture the imagination of our visitors; from children and young people, to older people and their carers. I’m also a duty visit manager and act as a ranger from time to time.
Talk to me if you or your agency wants to help shape our programmes or you’re interested in making a booking or hiring the centre.
Nicky Whittall, Operations Officer
Before joining Safety Central, I looked after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s fleet of community vehicles. I’ve also co-ordinated Royal Voluntary Service volunteers and been involved in the Prince’s Trust. I’ve drawn on all this experience to develop a really rewarding volunteering scheme that’s attracting some wonderful volunteers from all walks of life. I also manage the centre’s resources, manage visits and lead tours as a ranger.
Talk to me if you’re interested in being a Safety Central volunteer ranger or providing equipment or resources that might bring our scenarios to life.
Selina Blain, Support Officer
I’ve previously worked in banking and in customer services and spend my time managing bookings, meeting and greeting our visitors as they arrive, looking after our gift shop, helping with events and acting as a ranger guiding groups around our centre. Outside work I enjoy volunteering for a homeless charity.
Talk to me if you’re interested in booking a visit.
Vicki Griffiths, Visitor Relations Officer
I am the newest member of the Safety Central team having previously worked as an operational firefighter within Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. My role currently involves keeping our social media updated, meeting groups on arrival and managing visits.
